Yup. They did it. The postseason Patriots are definately here to pull another Superbowl out of the bag by defeating the San Diego Chargers, the team with the NFL's best record this season, 24-21. The game was won in the 4th quarter, while 21-13 down, Brady and his team were able to get 11 unanswered points in the last five minutes. A touchdown from Reche Caldwell got the Pats within tying distance, a challenge that was completed with a 2 point conversion. Then to win the game, Stephen Gostkowski scored a field goal with just minutes left. The Chargers had one more go at getting the W with a 54yard field goal, that just went wide and gave the game to Pats. Little celebrations were heard in the Chargers-dominated stadium because of the allocation of tickets.
Wait doesn't this sound familiar? Brady getting the job done in the 4th and then the kicker winning the game? Just this time it isn't Adam Vinatieri. Gotskowski has more than proven his place in this strong looking Patriots team. However, a note to recognise is that Vinatieri scored four field goals for the Colts, the only points they put on the board the whole game. We will have to show him this weekend when we play Indy for the AFC title, that we don't need him to win playoff games.
According to some sources, the Patriots did the Shawne Merriman dance on the lightning bolt in at the 50yard line just to stir it up a bit. Sore loser LT is going on an all out attack on the Pats and Bill Bellichick as being unsportsmanlike. Ah its a bit of fun! You didn't let our fans into the stadium.
Go Pats! Lets try and make it our 4th superbowl in 6 years!
Its time for me to get a new Pats jersey, all I have is #4 Vinatieri. Not ideal for next week...
